Benromach

Benromach may be the smallest of the Speyside distilleries in Scotland, but it packs a mighty punch. Founded back in 1898, the distillery still uses the same spring water from the nearby Romach Hills – hence the name, Benromach. The distillery features a boby mill, mash tun, four wooden washbacks, two copper stills – and even a visitor centre, where guided tours of the venue begin and end.

Benromach is also a pioneering distillery – in 2006 it became the first distillery to create and release a whisky certified by the Soil Association, the aptly-named Organic. Other original spirits have also been released, including PeatSmoke and Origins, both of which employed greatly different production processes to the regular heavily-peated malt whiskies created at Benromach.
