Longmorn

Going under the radar for many years, the Longmorn Distillery was founded in 1893 by John Duff, Charles Shirres and George Thomson. Based in the popular whisky producing area of Speyside in the Scottish Highlands, the distillery takes its name from the small village it is located in. Principal founder John Duff has a long history in whisky distilling, dating back to decades before he founded Longmorn, having managed both the Bon Accord Distillery and Glendronach Distillery, as well as founding the Glenlossie Distillery some 17 years earlier.

Despite this experience, the downturn at the end of the 19th century, as well as crippling costs of building a second distillery on the site, saw Duff forced to sell Longmorn.

The distillery went through a period of multiple owners until 1970 when it became part of the Glenlivet Distilleries Ltd who doubled it’s capacity in 1972 and then again in 1974 to 8 stills. It was then purchased by the Chivas Brothers in 1978, and changed hands again in 2001 when Chivas Brothers were purchased by Pernod Ricard.

A long awaited facelift of the brand was carried out in 2007, seeing the introduction of new releases and new branding.
